'Kes' completed her AKC Championship the day before her second birthday and her Intl Champion when she was four.
She received several Best of Breeds from the classes, and since becoming a Champion, has added several more BOB including a Best in Specialty Show from the Great Dane Club of El Paso and a Group 1 from the Topeka Kennel Club.
Kes is pictured above going Best of Breed over 53 Great Danes and then earned the Group 1 over 181 dogs! (Topeka Kennel Club - April 22, 2001) Breed and Group Judge: E E Bivin
Kes will be NINE YEARS OLD on April 12, 2006. These following two pictures are of our beautiful 7-1/2-year old Kes at the end of February 2005. We're very proud of all her accomplishments and her health!!

Kes was my first Great Dane, my first Champion, my first BISS winner, my first AKC Working Group winner. Kes has been, and continues to be, a joy to live with
Kes was bred twice, but unfortunately produced no puppies. She was spayed shortly after the 2nd breeding due to pyometra (a disease of the uterus).
While she may have slowed down in her later years, she is still queen of the household and is head couch potatoe.
Kes is:
CERF Clear
OFA hips good (GD-6932G25F-T)
OFA elbows clear (GD-EL206-T)
Thyroid normal
vWD clear
Fawn (from fawn/brindle only breedings)
Date of Birth : April 12, 1997
Kes is one of five Champions from her litter. Three are Specialty Show Winners and all five champions are Group placers (including several Group One's).
Best Opposite in Sweeps - Back-to-Back Great Dane Club of Greater Denver Specialties. Not bad for a girl 9-years & 6 weeks young!! Kes was the oldest girl in competition both days....

On July 16, 2007, Kes was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma). At this time, she is comfortable on a combination of Rimadyl and Trimadol. It is our feeling, that at the age of 10-years-old, amputation and/or radiation was not right for Kes. Instead, she's on a combination of drugs to help control any pain she may have and then we will keep an eye on her and let her go when she is ready. Part of my reason for posting this now is that not many websites deal with cancer in an older patient. It's all about amputation & radiation to help your dog live another year (if you're lucky). I felt there needed to be something that deals with the pain of deciding to NOT do those things. I am not ready to create a "memorial" page for Kes, as she is not ready to go. More information will be posted as the days go on. For now, the pictures below are confirmation of her "not ready to go" - the food bowl does not stay full for long!! As well, I tried to take some pictures of the cyst on her shoulder. I don't know if they came out as well as I wanted them to, but hopefully it can be seen where the cyst is (location is another reason we opted not to amputate).
